Badgers in Cornwall

European badgerYes, there are still badgers in Cornwall, even after DEFRA tried their very best to eradicate them from some areas here. There is a lot of local interest in badgers and this little site has been put together in their honour. West Cornwall Badger Group was a leading campaigning group against the badger cull, working very closely with The Badger Trust, and local farmers and residents.
Recently a mass extermination of badgers has been ruled out in England but our black and white friends are still under threat. A new badger rescue group has just been started up, specialising in the rescue, treatment and arranging the rehabilitation of injured badgers and their subsequent return to the wild.
The Peninsula Badgers e-group is available for anyone interested in the European badger (meles meles) and related issues. This egroup is targeted specifically at people living in the far southwest of England, particularly Devon and Cornwall, but wherever you live, you're welcome to join!
